Dryer Vent Cleaning
Built-up lint in your dryer vent can endanger your family!

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that
in 1998, clothes dryers were associated with 15,600 fires, which resulted in 20 deaths and 370 injuries. Fires can occur when
lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct.

Why does your vent need cleaning?
Clothes dryers have to be able to exhaust the hot, moist air that is
created in the drying process. Lint screens retain approximately 75% of the lint in each load. The other 25% blows
onto the motor, heating coils and up the dryer vent.
This lint sticks to the sides of the vent,
reducing the airflow, and making it so that the hot, moist air can't exhaust out of your home. This causes the dryer
to run hotter and longer. This can cause the heating coil and or the motor to burn out, make your dryer much less efficient,
and make you wait a long time for your clothes to dry.
If your dryer is located on an inside
wall and it…
-
Gets too hot, or doesn’t heat up at all
-
Turns off before your clothes are dry
-
Takes more than one drying cycle for a normal-sized
load
-
Gets very humid when you dry laundry
…you probably need to clean your
dryer vent!

When there is a blockage, such
as lint or a bird’s nest in your dryer exhaust vent…
- Your dryer will overheat-which may damage it
- Your dryer will cost more to operate
- You may begin to have a humidity/mold problem
- You will spend a lot of time waiting for dry clothes
- You are much more at risk to have a dryer fire
When your dryer overheats, it (hopefully) has a safety mechanism
called a High Temperature Limit Safety Switch that turns off the heating element. This switch cycles on and off continuously
if the dryer continues to overheat and thus may fail after a period of time. This would lead to much higher energy costs
and could result in a dangerous and expensive dryer fire.
If the dryer continues to overheat, your heating element would burn
out and dryer would no longer produce any heat. Most appliance repairmen would charge $70-$80 per hour (plus parts)
to put in a new element which would fix the dryer. Keep in mind that you would still have to clean your dryer vent on
top of the dryer repair bill.
When a dryer duct becomes plugged, you are more likely to experience
moisture or water damage. This moisture or water may or may not be visible to you. An average load of laundry contains approximately 1
gallon of water, and when your exhaust vent is clogged this water goes somewhere--usually into your wall, attic or floor space,
where it causes mold and fungus growth. We commonly retrieve 2-5 gallons of lint, and many times 2-4 gallons of water,
from dryer ducts when we clean them.

Complete Air Duct Cleaning
THE REASONS TO CLEAN YOUR AIR DUCTS ARE ACCUMULATING!
Most people are now aware that indoor air pollution is an issue
of growing concern and increased visibility. Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling
system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat
exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air-handling unit
housing. Let us help you live longer and breathe healthy with our clean air solution.
If not properly installed, maintained, and operated, these components
may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris. If moisture is present, the potential for microbiological
growth (e.g., mold, bacteria) is increased and spores and toxins from such growth may be released into the home's living space.
Boss Systems can help you to keep your air ducts clean and free of dust and debris.
Some argue that their home is new and that the duct system is new
and, therefore, does not need to be cleaned. We have found that most of the contractors in our area aren’t very
careful and an enormous amount of debris is dropped or swept into you ducting system. Let us come inspect your air duct
system, so that you can have peace of mind.
